Ninja Scroll (Movie)

So this is going to be my first entry. The reason i have decided to write reviews about movies and serials is because they give me some sort of closure and let me vent out my frustration towards them and yeah i do get to express my opinions. So here it is

Movie – Ninja Scroll
DOR – 1993,june 5, Japan
Directed by – Yoshiaki Kawajiri

Okay so this movie is badass and when i say badass i mean Badass. The movie is set in feudal japan and is basically the story of a ronin (a masterless samurai) and an old man(state spy) who team up to defeat an evil Lord (plus his minions) and his evil scheme (whatever the fuck that is). Plus they are also accompanied by a lady ninja, i hope that is what they are called.

Lady Ninja

This the Lady Ninja Kagero and yes, that is a mini-Skirt / Kimono

What separates this movie from other’s is the plot and the characters. I mean the the characters and the scenes are as real as they come. For god’s sake they had a rape scene in the first fifteen minutes with excruciating details.

because lubrication is necessary, rape or no rape

This plus the fact that the story is good although not that intriguing . What keeps me hooked on is the no. of monsters that they face and the love-hate relationship that the Jubei(ronin) and Kagero(lady Ninja) had. [*Spoilers*] Although it was a downer when the Kagero was killed but it did elevate the last fighting scene as Jubei was now fighting to avenge Kagero [*Spoilers*].
The movie dosen’t overdo action scenes and keeps them short but gripping. This movie is worth watching. I would rate it  8 out of 10.

They animators of the movie are now celebrating because of the ratings that i gave them. Surprising to note that not one of them is japanese.

Fun Fact #1: The main character, Kibagami Jubei, is an homage to the famed Japanese folk hero Yagyū Jūbei Mitsuyoshi.
